How TEP’s “Demand Time-of-Use” Works

This plan lowers kWh most hours and adds a monthly demand fee based on your highest on-peak hour.

  • On-peak windows:
    • Summer (May–Sep) 3–7 pm Mon–Fri;
    • Winter (Oct–Apr) 6–9am and 6–9pm Mon–Fri.
    • Weekends & TEP-listed holidays are off-peak.

Recent & upcoming changes

  • TEP requested a rate review; proposed new rates could begin Sep 2026 (ACC process). (Tucson Electric Power)
  • Fuel/purchased power factor (PPFAC) resets annually; recent updates have at times reduced rates seasonally. (Tucson Electric Power)

Before/After Bills

Typical Demand Targets & Savings Range

  • 1-hour on-peak target: ≤3–4 kW small; ≤4–5 kW typical; ≤5–6 kW large/pool.
  • Savings expectation: 8–20% from hour-peak shaving + daytime shift in winter.
