How “Smart Usage” (TOU-Demand) Works

Smart Usage charges lower energy rates overall and adds a demand fee based on your highest single hour each month.

  • Summer on-peak is 2–7pm, Mon–Fri (Jun–Sep).
  • Avoid stacking big loads in any single hour, especially during the afternoon window. (Georgia Power)

Recent & upcoming changes

  • Georgia PSC approved a plan to freeze base rates through at least the end of 2028; other riders (storm/fuel) can still move bills. (Georgia Power)

Before/After Bills

Typical Demand Targets & Savings Range

  • Hour-peak targets: ≤3–4 kW small; ≤4–5 kW typical; ≤5–6 kW large/pool.
  • Expected savings: 8–20%, higher if laundry/dishwasher migrate to evenings/weekends and EV to overnight.
